Tonight I discovered something that I hate more than name droppers, more than people who use oversized umbrellas in New York City, even more than Mormon Julie from "The Real World." This loathsome thing is called spinning class.
When I agreed to go to a class with a friend who joined the gym along with me last week, I knew it was going to be tough, but I had no idea it had the power to literally suck the soul out of you. And this was just an introductory class! Needless to say this kid will NOT be going back for more, oh HELLS no.
Don't get me wrong, I have gone running on the treadmill every night since Sunday and am certainly planning on keeping that up, at least three times a week. But the difference between running and spinning is that after running, I don't want to throw myself in front of a bus on the way home.
After running, I feel exhausted but at the same time, healthy and exhilerated. Tonight, after spinning, I felt nauseated, dizzy and miserable. My body was saying, "Oh no, he din't!" I actually had to stop and rest my legs on the 6-block walk home! Not exactly what I am looking for in a workout. I know tons of people love to partake in spinning, but I guess I am just not one of those people, I just don't have it in me. And that's fine by me, I'll stick to my treadmill from now on, thank you very much.
Spin away, suckas...to each his own!
naw dude, don't quit. it was so tough because you're not used to it. but that's the whole point. working out is all about shocking your body into change. once you get too used to something, it no longer works as well. try the spin class two or three more times and i guarantee it will get easier.
then once it's too easy, switch to something else.

He's right. If you keep doing the same thing (treadmill) your body gradually adapts. Or try something else new, if you hated it that much. I don't like spinning that much either, but I mix up my cardio - 15 minutes treadmill, 15 elliptical, 15 stairclimber, etc. etc.
